From humble beginnings to fulfilling her dreams, Cherina Johnson is excited to debut her first book, Cute as a Button Tough as a Girl.  In this book, she shares her unimaginable journey as a basketball player and the life lessons learned along the way.  

Cherina’s journey began as an adolescent.  Unaware that she had any talent in the sport, she attended tryout practice for the 5^th and 6th-grade girls’ basketball team.  To her delightful surprise, she made the team.  That was the start of an exciting journey as a basketball player from childhood through adulthood.  

Life lessons learned from her basketball career have been instrumental in her academic, athletic, and personal growth.  They have also contributed to her resilience in overcoming life’s challenges.  Cherina’s memoir highlights the exhilarating joys of victories and the excruciating heartbreak from losses.  Her love for the game of basketball has taken her to unexpected places and honored her as the unsuspecting recipient of prestigious awards. 

Cherina’s desire is to encourage and share words of wisdom with present and future generations.  Her hope is that the reader is inspired to dream and take the necessary actions to make their dream a reality, to use negative experiences as a springboard to launch into a better life and do greater things, and to have a personal relationship and fellowship with God, through His precious Son, Jesus Christ.
